Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay is a waterside building located on six hectares of waterfront land alongside Marina Bay near the mouth of the Singapore River, purpose-built to be the centre for performing arts for the island nation of Singapore. Taking its name from the nearby Esplanade, it contains a Concert Hall which seats about 1,600 and a Theatre with a capacity of about 2,000 for the performing arts. The library@esplanade is located on the third floor of the building. There are outdoor performing centres, and retail and food space at the Esplanade Mall. There is an outdoor open space on the fourth floor of the building, which is the highest point open to the public. As one of the world’s busiest arts centres, Esplanade offers a staggering range of programmes which caters to all audiences. In addition to Esplanade Presents performances, other offerings by diverse presenters complement the programmes at the centre, ensuring that there is something for everyone. Esplanade’s programmes are broadly organised around key areas – the community and access programmes form the foundation of activities at the centre, collaborations with mainly local arts groups help develop the industry, while leading international productions offer innovative programmes in the major arts genres. These programmes are presented in different festivals and series designed to appeal to the broadest range of audiences. Esplanade's in-house programming team presents over 14 festivals and 20 on-going series throughout the year. As a centre for everyone, the programmes range from PLAYtime! for 2 to 4 year olds, Bitesize - a monthly talk and workshop taster series for a range of Arts topics, to At The Concourse - a non-ticketed music series that runs everyday of the year, as well as Coffee Morning Afternoon Tea - concerts featuring nostalgic English and Chinese golden hits by veteran local artists.

Cavenagh Bridge,Singapore

Cavenagh Bridge is the only suspension bridge and one of the oldest bridges in Singapore, spanning the lower reaches of the Singapore River in the Downtown Core. Opened in 1870[1] to commemorate Singapore's new Crown colony of the Straits Settlements status in 1867, it is the oldest bridge in Singapore that exists in its original fo Originally known as the Edinburgh Bridge to commemorate the visit of the Duke of Edinburgh, its name was changed to Cavenagh Bridge in honour of Major General William Orfeur Cavenagh, the last India-appointed Governor of the Straits Settlements, who governed from 1859 to 1867.The coat of arms of the Cavenagh family can still be seen atop the signage at both ends of the bridge.

Chain Bridge,Singapore

Singapore has a growing stand-up comedy scene with several active venues although there is still no full time comedy club. The Comedy Club Asia, founded by Australian comedian Jonathan Atherton, offers monthly shows featuring leading international comics such as Paul Ogata, Gina Yashere, Jeff Green, Ted Alexandro and many others. Venues hosting The Comedy Club Asia's shows in Singapore include The British Club, DBS Arts Centre, Hollandse Club, China One and BluJaz. The Comedy Club Asia also produces stand-up comedy shows in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India and Cambodia. They presented Cambodia's first ever stand-up show featuring Ward Anderson (USA), Shazia Mirza (UK) and Jonathan Atherton (Aus) at Pontoon Club, Phnom Penh in December 2011. This has since become a monthly event.

Fountain of Wealth,Singapore

The Fountain of Wealth is listed by the Guinness Book of Records in 1998 as the largest fountain in the world. It is located in one of Singapore's largest shopping malls, Suntec City. During certain periods of the day, the fountain is turned off and visitors are invited to walk around a mini fountain at the centre of the fountain's base for good luck. At night, the fountain is the setting for laser performances, as well as live song and laser message dedications between 8pm to 9pm daily. It is situated in such a way the fountain is the hub of the shopping mall.

Mica Building,Singapore

The Old Hill Street Police Station is a historic building in Singapore, and is located at Hill Street in the Museum Planning Area, within the Central Area, Singapore's central business district. Between 1845 and 1856, the Assembly Rooms — a space for public functions and a building that housed a theatre and a school — occupied the current site of the Old Hill Street Police Station. The Old Hill Street Police Station building is the site of Singapore's first jail. Following a meeting of soldiers in the Alexandra Barracks in 1915, the Singapore Police Force was reorganised. As a result of the reorganisation, from 1915 to 1935, the Singapore Police Force built several police stations to deal with increasing Chinese secret society activities. To provide vehicular access behind the building, the steep slopes of Fort Canning had to be cut back and shored up. In 1934, the Hill Street Police Station and Barracks was opened by Director of Public Works and Adviser for Malay States, G. Sturrock, who was also a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA). In addition to the standard facilities for a police station, there were living quarters for policemen and their families.

The Singapore River is a river in Singapore with great historical importance. It has an extraordinary story to tell about Singapore. The Singapore River flows from the Central Area, which lies in the Central Region in the southern part of Singapore before emptying into the ocean. The immediate upper watershed of the Singapore River is known as the Singapore River Planning Area, although the northernmost part of the watershed becomes River Valley. As the Central Area is treated as a central business district, nearly all land surrounding it is commercial. It is one of about 90 rivers in Singapore and its islands. It is the place where Raffles made the 1st trading port in Singapore. The Singapore River is the most famous river in Singapore.

Suspension Bridge at Tanjong,Singapore

Tanjong Rhu is a residential neighbourhood in Kallang in the south-eastern part of Singapore. Tanjong Rhu has been associated with ship building and repairing from the early days. Captain Flint, a harbour master, started a boat building and repair company here in 1822. A Mr Tivendale had his shipyard here in the 1860s. As late as the 1980s and the early 1990s, the Tanjong Rhu area was an industrial area with shipyards. The water surrounding Tanjong Rhu was polluted with industrial and domestic waste, creating an extremely unpleasant environment. A massive relocation exercise was then undertaken by the Singapore Government to transform Tanjong Rhu into a high-end residential area. Reclamation of land along the Tanjong Rhu coast began as early as 1992. Private developers then started the new residential developments in Tanjong Rhu. Today, the shipyards have since been relocated elsewhere and condominiums have replaced them.

Chevron House,Singapore

Chevron House, formerly called Caltex House, is a high-rise skyscraper located in the central business district of Singapore. It is located on 30 Raffles Place, in the financial district of Raffles Place. The building is near several buildings and landmarks, such as Singapore Land Tower, Hitachi Tower, Change Alley and The Arcade, all of which are less than 100 metres (110 yd) away.[5] The development has direct underground access to Raffles Place MRT Station. Hitachi Tower, a nearby neighbour of Chevron House, shares a four-level retail podium with the building. Chevron House has a total of 33 floors, not including 3 basement levels, and it rises 152.0 metres (498.7 ft) above ground. The international headquarters of Caltex is situated in the building.

East Coast Park,Singapore

The East Coast Park is a beach park located on the southeastern coast of Singapore. It was opened in the 1970s, when the government completed reclaiming land off the coast at Katong which extends from Changi to Tanjong Rhu.
